Disclaimer: Yea it's on chapter one.
Warning: sigh cussing
Author's note: I apologise in advance guys, I had one of the worst cases of writer's block that I've ever experienced so in the end I figured writing this would be the only way to get rid of it; so the writing ain't all that great and I'd say I'll probably redo this chapter in the near future but for now it'll do, just anything to get rid of the Block y'know? Anyhoo, hopefully it's not too abysmal...
'I managed to meet the new guy properly today Trowa,' Duo smiled up at the taller boy as they made their way towards the table, 'He's quite nice actually, acted a bit weird though.'
Trowa laughed as they sat down, 'You probably scared him or something given your way of introducing yourself.’
‘Hey.’ Duo made an attempt to frown but ended up grinning instead, ‘I told him he could sit with us today if he wanted, but there’s no sign of him.’
‘Give him a minute.’
‘You should be on an ad for that,’ Duo remarked watching Trowa open a can of coke, ‘Man, how do you do it so stylishly?’
‘It’s all in the index finger you see.’ Trowa deadpanned.
Duo smiled and pulled his bag up unto his lap, ‘Tro, that’s oddly believable.’ he began to rummage around in it, his smile fading into a look of puzzlement and then semi-horror. ‘Oh shit,’ he turned to his friend, eyes wide, ‘I forgot my-’
Trowa smiled, his hand going to his pocket, ‘Look what I have.’ he dropped a small pink pill unto the tabletop, ‘Ta-dah.’
Duo stared at it for a moment, ‘Tro, you’re an angel.’ he picked the pill up and held it in front of him, bemused, ‘I’d be dead without you.’
‘Most likely, you’d actually be asleep, not dead.’
‘Oh ha ha.’
Trowa put his arm around the other boy and gave him a squeeze, ‘You know what I mean.’
‘Well Tro, you never know, I could just be walking out in front of a bus and get bussed to death, then I’d be dead, not asleep’
‘… Bussed to death?’
Heero
The plot thickens. Either that or it dissipates altogether. I now find myself in the cafeteria having taken Duo’s invitation with far more enthusiasm than I could dare show. Of course, he caught my eye almost immediately, the long chestnut braid is what does it always.
But I know that the little obsession that I can feel brewing has got to end; there’s no way he’s gay, not knowing my luck anyway. And even if he was, how could someone that beautiful not already be taken?
Exactly.
By deduction I’d say that the guy he’s with must be Trowa because I’ve already met Wufei Chang. This guy’s handsome from what I can see, I’ll give him that, but he’s also got his arm around Duo and for some reason I can feel my stomach turning. A boyfriend? I shouldn’t be feeling this way, not about a guy I’ve said a total of twenty words to and seen about twice. It’s gone too far.
I’ve got to get Duo Maxwell out of my head.
The first advisable step I’m sure would be to not sit with him at lunch today.
But then why can’t I stop myself moving towards them?
Him and his…
Having spotted Heero, Duo broke away from Trowa and waved a little frantically, ‘Hey buddy! Thought you weren’t gonna show!’
Heero smiled a little, making his way over and sitting down opposite the two. He gave a curt nod to Trowa and eyed the pill sitting on the table but said nothing.
‘That would have been the first time anybody’s stood me up.’ Duo snorted, not noticing how Heero had looked up sharply at the remark and then suddenly taken a great interest in his sandwich.
‘So Heero, what do you think of Parkview so far?’ Trowa studied him through one brilliant green eye, the other hidden behind a fine layer of tawny brown hair.
‘It’s alright.’
‘Just alright?’ Duo looked up at him, eyes widening in mock-alarm, ‘Just alright Heero?’ he shook his head slowly, ‘We’ll have to improve on that, you know, give you a good time.’ He winked at the other boy, his smile widening.
Heero was staring at him wordlessly, unsure of how to reply when Wufei arrived, sitting down next to Heero with a slight nod of acknowledgement.
‘Heero Yuy isn’t it?’
‘Yes, and you’re the prefect from the corridor, Wufei…’
‘Chang. Wufei Chang.’
Duo watched the brief exchange with a smile, ‘But he likes it better when you say Chang Wufei, don’t you ’Fei? You know, surname first then-’
‘Shut up Maxwell, you are over-complicating the matter.’ Wufei raised an eyebrow and waved a hand to dismiss the subject, ‘Just call me Wufei.’
Heero
All through that hour we shared at lunch, my eyes never left Trowa; I know I was probably quite obvious, I was probably glaring at him the entire time, I’ve never really bothered to try and hide how feel before, the situations rarely called for it; but now I’d say made a show of myself thanks to the childish jealousy I felt every time they touched.
They were so close too, Duo was constantly holding his arm, I don’t even think he realized it himself; throughout our somewhat animated conversation, he constantly looked to the other boy for confirmation and assurance. I… It was inevitable of course, I should have seen it coming; but still.
I’m kicking myself for even considering the possibility that Duo Maxwell would look my way, even if he did swing for the home team (which was always unlikely), would he ever feel attracted to me? No, because here we have the wonderful and handsome Trowa of course.
Hell, I’ve known the guy for what, two days? Already I’m sounding like some heartbroken idiot girl. It can’t be right. Yuy, this has got to stop. Really.
Duo shared his geography class too, fancy that. Last class of the day and all.
So did Trowa.
Heero tried to steer his eyes away from the pair sitting across the room, he really didn’t need the distraction. Every time he looked in their direction he felt a little spike of jealousy and decided that it couldn’t be healthy to feel that way about anyone. So he decided that he had distance himself from Duo, to try and quash this stupid ’crush’ that had hit so completely out of the blue, it was childish and couldn’t work. So he tried staring fixedly at the little globe sitting up on the cabinet beside the door, dully contemplating just how boring geography could be until the bell rang.
The classroom began to empty almost immediately, Heero got up and made his way to the door but slowed to a stop as he passed by Duo’s desk.
The braided youth hadn’t moved from his seat, his head was down on the desk, his eyes closed, unmoving. Trowa had moved over to him and was now bent over him, speaking in low tones.
‘Everything alright?’
Trowa looked up and smiled, ‘Ah, Heero, we’re fine.’ he looked back down at the other boy’s inert form, ‘Come on Duo, get up.’
Duo looked up, blinking at Trowa and then seeing Heero, he gave him a bleary smile, ‘Hey buddy.’
‘Class is over, we can go now,’ Trowa quickly packed his own bag and then began gathering the books on Duo’s desk.
Heero bent and picked up a pen that had rolled off the desk and held it out to Duo.
‘Here you go.’
‘Um, thanks.’
Heero began to grow alarmed as he watched the other boy’s eyes flutter closed once more, the pen rolling out from limp fingers back unto the floor, ‘Du-’, he stopped as Duo’s head hit the table with an audible crack.
‘Trowa there’s something wrong with him.’
Trowa gave a dismissive wave and smiled at Heero as he pulled Duo’s bag over and began to put the other’s books away, ‘He’s fine, honestly.’
‘Fuck!’ Duo sat up and rubbed his forehead, ‘That really hurt.’ he blinked a few times and straightened up, wide violet eyes moving round the classroom before settling on Heero. Trowa pulled a sheet out from underneath the dazed boy’s elbow and shoved it into the bag, ‘Do you think you can stand?’
‘Yup.’ Duo stood up, swayed a little, and took his bag from Trowa, ’Thanks Tro.’. He moved out from behind the desk and then stopped, Heero heard him swear quietly under his breath as his bag slipped from his shoulder and fell to the floor with a thud.
‘Heero catch him.’
Heero was already moving forward when he heard Trowa’s order; he had already seen the other boy’s legs begin to give way and now he acted swiftly, catching Duo under the arms as he fell. With Trowa’s help he managed to settle the inert form back into the seat. The two boys watched their unresponsive friend for a moment in silence before Heero turned to Trowa, his expression being one of puzzlement and alarm.
‘What the hell is going on? Aren’t you not a bit worried?’ Heero almost hissed, staring incredulously at the other boy’s calm, handsome face.
‘Did he not tell you?’
‘Tell me what?’
‘He’s narcoleptic. Quite badly at that. I have no idea how long he’ll be out.’
‘…Oh.’
Well that would explain the pill Heero had glimpsed at lunch; turning slowly, he gazed down at the sleeping boy, unsure how to react.
