Trowa sat in his room on his bed.
“I wish I could tell Quatre how I feel. I mean, I know he loves me.”
He shook his head. “It’s too hard. I can’t!”
On the balcony Quatre leaned against the railing and looked up at the sky.
The sunset was spectacular. It was a bold yellow, followed by a bright orange. A fiery pink followed the orange, and turned slowly into a royal purple, until at the bottom, it was a dark blue.
Because of the setting sun, the clouds, reflecting the sunset, had a silver lining at the edge.
Quatre couldn’t keep his eyes off the sky. When was the last time he had had the chance to see something this beautiful?
He wished for his wings, and immediately they appeared. He moved his wings slowly, thinking of how the vacation had gone. Tomorrow would be the last day of his vacation, and Duo and Hero managed to reveal their feelings about each other.
It just isn’t fair, Thought Quatre scathingly. Trowa never says anything to me anymore but ‘how are you?’. I wish I could tell him how I feel.
Trowa walked around the house, trying to figure out a way he could show Quatre his feelings.
“I know he loves me, so I’ll leave it at that. I won’t say anything to him.” Trowa finally thought after pacing fretfully down the hallway.
Duo and Heero came around the corner.
“We heard you,” Heero told Trowa. “And I don’t think not telling him you love him is a stupid idea.”
Trowa gasped.
“H—how did you know?” he asked.
“It’s obvious, Trowa. You’re head-over-heels for the boy!”
What was the use to hide it any longer? “But how am I ever going to tell him?” Trowa asked nervously. He was liking this conversation less every minute.
Heero smiled. A true genuine one. “That, you’ll have to figure out yourself,” he said, and walked off with Duo.
That left Trowa on edge, but then he remembered Quatre had mentioned something about the balcony, so he walked up.
He stopped short when he saw Quatre. The colors of the sunset washed over his face, and wings. His hair shone brightly in the setting sun, and the glass of the door caused rainbows to flash in various places.
Trowa just stood there, unable to speak.
Quatre thought that no sunset could beat this one. If only Trowa were here, Quatre thought longingly.
As if someone had heard him, a hand was gently laid on his shoulder.
Quatre whirled around in surprise, and when he saw the owner of the hand, he gasped.
Trowa.
He quickly folded his wings in.
Trowa looked into Quatre’s wide, surprised eyes. They were the most beautiful blue he had ever seen.
“T—Trowa. How are you? What are you doing up here?”
“I liked the idea of watching the sunset, and with good company,” Trowa replied.
Quatre blushed.
“It is nice to have company.” He said after awhile.
“Yeah…” Trowa responded, looking out onto the ocean reflecting the sky.
They just stood there for a while, until Trowa finally come up with the conversation he had been waiting to have.
“Quatre, when I was, um, listening into the conversation when I found out about your wings, I, uh, I—um…” Trowa stopped, unsure of how Quatre might take this.
Quatre looked at him questioningly. “What, Trowa? You can tell me.”
“Well,” Trowa said, looking extremely nervous, “I heard you say that—that—that you loved me, Quatre.”
Quatre backed up in shock and went bright red.
“And, well,” Trowa continued, “Just want you to know that…that I love you too!”
Quatre opened and closed his mouth, apparently having lost the ability to speak. He looked staggered, and leaned against the railing for support.
Suddenly he felt two strong hands grab his shoulders and pull him to Trowa, and Trowa kissed him, without warning.
Quatre, although having trouble thinking at the moment, found that he liked the way Trowa kissed.
When the kiss was done, Quatre hung his head, to overwhelmed with emotions to say anything.
He felt Trowa’s finger under his chin, forcing his face upward, but not roughly. He looked at Trowa, who he found was smiling. It was the most beautiful smile Quatre had ever seen. Trowa’s eyes shone with happiness.
Trowa looked into Quatre big eyes. They were so innocent. A few tears slipped out, and immediately Trowa was worried.
“Quatre, what’s wrong?”
Quatre smiled through his tears. “I—I don’t know! I’m crying and I’m not sad at all. But I know one thing—could you kiss me again?”
Trowa laughed. It was a beautiful sound.
“Of course!” he said, grinning, and kissed Quatre again.
“Now try and catch me!” Quatre smiled happily, and in a flash his wings appeared. He flew off the balcony.
“Oh no you don’t!” Trowa cried, and ran outside, following Quatre’s every move.
Quatre would get close to Trowa, and when Trowa was about to grab him, he flew up again. At one point he got careless, and Trowa jumped up and grabbed him by the waist.
“Gotcha!” Trowa said, and they laid down on the beach, looking up at the sky. By now the sunset was gone, but golden stars flashed and winked at them. The moon looked especially beautiful tonight, Quatre noted.
Quatre sat in Trowa’s lap, and they just looked up at the sky for a long, long time, in each other’s arms.
Duo, Heero and Wufei were standing on the balcony, watching Trowa and Quatre down below on the sand.
Duo grinned. “I think a vacation is exactly what Quatre needed.”
Damn! That was one long story. //Snorts sarcastically// Wings? What was I thinking? A stupid name for an equally stupid fic. My longest yet, to be completely truthful. P.S. Around part five; you know that song Duo sings? I made it up and did not take it, borrow it or steal it from anyone. If you’d like to borrow it, please ask first. If I see it on someone’s fanfic when I haven’t gotten a permission e-mail, there’s gonna be trouble ^_^.
