Quatre had so many problems. I’m un-loved, I’ll be fired from my job, I’ve got a lot of work to do, I can’t swim, and—Trowa. He thought.
As if to add to his misery, Quatre’s ankle began to throb excruciatingly.
He moaned and grabbed his ankle, trying to stop the pain.
With his sixth sense, he felt four sad sources behind him. He turned around and saw everyone looking out the window at him.
“Shit! He saw us!” Duo moaned.
They saw Quatre’s eyes widen at the sight of them.
Then Quatre got up and started to run, but because of his ankle, he tripped and fell on the sand, but then he got back up and continued to run.
Trowa started to run to the door to go after Quatre, but Heero grabbed his arm.
“He wants to left alone. Let him cool down.”
“But what did we do?” Duo thought out loud, sounding upset.
Quatre’s ankle was burning with pain, but he ran until the house was well out of sight, and sat down on the white sand.
The nerve! He thought angrily, they just…just stood there! I only wanted to be alone, and they stand in a window gawking at me as if I were in a cage at the zoo! Some friends I have! Tears began to stream down his face. He buried his head in his hands. It’s not fair!Oh, Allah, what did I do to deserve this?
The atmosphere at the beach house was agitated and apprehensive.
Quatre was usually the calmest person of all the guys, so what had happened that traumatized him so much? Of course, they weren’t aware that Quatre had multiple problems going on.
It was getting dark, and Quatre still hadn’t returned.
Duo, as Quatre’ s best friend was worried almost to tears, while Trowa was pacing around and wouldn’t sit down.
Duo excused himself saying he wanted to go to the balcony. He then walked off to the top floor where the balcony was.
Although it was very dark out, the sky was lit with stars scattered across the sky.
Quatre thought it looked beautiful, and he lay down on the white sand that was reflecting off the moonlight.
He looks at the stars, naming the constellations to himself.
He was at such peace with everything, and everything seemed at peace with him. Suddenly a faint silvery white glow began in front of him, and it got stronger and stronger, and a form began to appear.
When the form was completely finished, Quatre saw it was a woman, the most beautiful he had ever seen.
Her long silver-white hair reached down to her knees. Her unblemished skin shone like the moon, and was the same color as her hair. She had on a white dress that was flowing around her, as if there was wind, but there wasn’t any wind that night. She also had a kind face, and her slender form greeted Quatre.
“Hello,” she said lightly.
Quatre was aghast. He backed up on the sand a few inches.
“You have no reason to fear me, young Quatre. I have come to help.” She assured Quatre.
Her voice somehow convinced Quatre that she truly was good, and so did his sixth sense.
“Who—what are you?” Quatre asked, bewildered.
“I am known as the Angel Of the Moon.” She told Quatre, smiling.
“Why are you here? Should I tell someone you’re here?”
“Only you can see me, young Quatre.”
“Why?”
“You are innocent and have a pure heart, and only those of pure heart can see me.”
Quatre was obviously confused.
The angel smiled at him. “From what I know,” she told Quatre, “You had a dream about you and Trowa, and correct me if I’m wrong, but you could fly in that dream.”
Quatre nodded, too surprised to speak.
“Also, you thought something in that dream would come true,” the angel added.
“Y—yes,” Quatre managed.
“Well, you were right, and that’s what I’m here for.”
Quatre stared up at her, shocked. “Are you really here? Am I asleep?” he asked.
“No, Quatre, you are awake.”
Quatre believed her.
“Anyway, The God Of the Sun sent me here, and I have come to give you wings of an angel.”
“W—what?” squeaked Quatre.
The angel smiled and laughed kindly. “Wings, young Quatre. Ones you can fly with. Your heart is pure; you’re innocent, and of all the people I’ve seen in my life, you are the most trustworthy and deserve them most.”
Quatre stared at her, too shocked to speak.
“Close your eyes, young Quatre.”
Quatre closed his eyes, and he could feel a warm glow at his back. When he opened his eyes, he turned around and saw wings exactly like in the dream. They glowed with moonshine, and were of white feathers.
He stared at The Angel Of the Moon. “H—how can I thank you…” he faltered.
The angel gave him a brilliant smile, and leaned forward and kissed him lightly on the cheek. “You already have, young Quatre. Whenever you want the wings to disappear, fold them to you and they will absorb into your back. You will look and feel as you did before the wings. To summon your wings again, wish for them to be there.”
She smiled at him again. “Farewell, young Quatre. May your Allah keep you safe.”
She floated up, closed her eyes and disappeared.
Quatre watched the space she disappeared for a moment, and then turned his attention to his wings. He flapped them a bit, and felt himself lift off the ground slightly.
“Oh,” he gasped at the beauty. “Thank you, Miss Moon.”
Duo leaned against the balcony, looking out to the stars. It was beautiful out. Comforting and relaxing as it was, Duo was pretty worried about Quatre.
“I hope he’s ok,” Duo said to himself. “I truly do.”
Looking out to the stars, he remembered a song that someone had sung to him. He wasn’t sure whom, but he knew it was to keep someone safe. Gazing up at the beautiful stars, he began to sing the song.
Look, young one, do you see the stars? The stars watch over us to keep us safe, and angels watch over for peace.
Listen, young one, do you hear the melody of life? It songs softly in everyone’s heart, telling us not to be afraid.
Touch, young one, do you feel the caress of the wind? It flows around you, playfully, keeping your heart alive and busy.
But young one, do you know me? I am the one to teach, to help you understand. I am the one to love you.
There was calm silence when Duo had finished. But then…
“You have a beautiful voice, Duo.”
Duo whirled around in surprise to see who it was. Hadn’t he been alone?
His heart nearly stopped. It was Heero.
Heero walked next to him and leaned against the railing.
“I never knew you could sing. That was beautiful.”
Duo blushed. “Th—thank you, Heero. But I thought I was alone.”
Heero smiled, not smirked. “I only heard the song.”
“It’s a beautiful song.” Duo said.
“As beautiful as you, Duo.”
