Untitled GW Tale

Part 5

If Quatre could have screamed, he would have. Unfortunately, there was no way to make Sandrock stop, so she hurtled deeper into the woods in the pouring rain.

“Quatre!” Trowa yelled. Without a word to the others, he pushed his heel into Heavyarm’s flank and she shot off into the woods behind Quatre and Sandrock.

Heero and Duo, as well as their horses, stood frozen, staring at the spot Trowa had shot off to.

Meanwhile Trowa was slowly catching up to Quatre. Finally, with an extra burst of speed Trowa managed to pass Quatre and stop so that he and his horse would be blocking Sandrock from going any further.

With a loud neigh and rearing up on her hind feet, Sandrock came to a stop. Trowa and his faithful horse slowly approached Sandrock and Quatre and stopping when they were at parallel with them.

“Quatre, are you ok?” Trowa asked anxiously, noticing Quatre’s hand was on his heart and he was breathing deeply.

Quatre managed a slow and shaky nod.

Seeing that Quatre was feeling faint with terror, Trowa took it upon himself to help pull Quatre onto his horse, sitting him in front so that Quatre could lean into him if he needed to. He grabbed Sandrock’s reigns and towed her along too.

Trowa couldn’t help but color slightly when Quatre leaned into his chest, looking much more relaxed than he had when Trowa had pulled him off Sandrock. The rain had lessened to a light drizzle by the time Trowa and Quatre reached Duo and Heero.

As soon as Duo caught sight of the two he quickly cantered over with wide-eyed worry evident on his pale face.

// Quatre, are you ok? What happened? // He thought to Quatre, his facial expression openly vexed.

Quatre nodded. // I’m sorry for getting you worried, Duo. Sandrock was scared by the lightening and just galloped off. I’m glad…Trowa was there… // Quatre’s thoughts faded off as he looked at Trowa devotedly.

Duo smiled slightly to himself as he realized Quatre was feeling more than just a close friendship with this mysterious human called Trowa.

When they got back to the castle, Quatre dried himself off with a towel, and was given another pair of dry, clean clothing. Locating the room with the many instruments, large beautiful stained glass windows, and soft chairs, Quatre sat down in a squashy chair next to one of the massive windows, and began to go over the day.

I never knew such a place that could be so beautiful and kind, and the next moment, cruel and unforgiving. It’s truly a miracle that occurred above the water kingdom when I wasn’t aware of it. I guess I really have Duo to thank for dragging me to that ship…Quatre contemplated to himself with a silent chuckle. His mind wandering to Trowa and the latest event, Quatre couldn’t help but go a bit red in the face. The person I truly owe it to is Trowa. He really rescued me today when Sandrock ran off after that bright flash. I was so terrified, I’m not sure what I would have done if he hadn’t been right there to save me. Quatre suddenly felt somewhat ashamed. I must be such a bother. I can’t even speak the words to thank him. He’s so kind to me…and I’m not sure at all how to pay him back. So kind…

Trowa happened to choose this moment to walk into the room. Seeing the somewhat dejected Quatre, he walked over and laid a hand on his shoulder, startling Quatre for a moment.

“Are you alright?” Trowa inquired, worried.

Quatre gave a warm smile and nodded. So kind…

Trowa relaxed. “Is there anything I can get for you? Whatever thing you can think of? I—I’d do anything you asked for. Anything at all.” Trowa looked eager to help grant any wish he could.

Quatre felt his eyes slowly brimming over with tears. Trowa had to be the most selfless, caring, wonderful person he had ever met.

Alarmed at seeing Quatre have shining tears stream down his face, Trowa immediately knelt down and brushed the tears off his pale cheeks. His emerald-green eyes arched in confused concern.

This act of loving compassion undid Quatre completely. He jumped up and ran into Trowa’s arms, leaning his head against his chest.

Trowa looked down at Quatre, feeling a pleased sensation, but puzzled just the same.

“Quatre…?”

Quatre looked up at him, and showed him with his innocent, aqua eyes in the clearest, best way he could: Thank you.

Trowa smiled, a true, genuine, rare smile. He tilted Quatre’s head so he was looking straight into the wide blue eyes, and ran his finger along Quatre’s jaw line.

And Trowa’s eyes told him the answer.

Sometimes, at the purest moment of love, words aren’t needed.

And Quatre and Trowa held each other in front of the window, light streaming in and causing a silver lining. A silver lining in the shape of two embracing bodies.

Still with me? Whoa, I'm flattered you read this far. Especially to this part, as it's WAY over cheesy. I dunno why I made it so cheesy. But I think some fluff every once in a while is allowed...after all...fanfiction gives you the glorious opportunity to twist whatever characters you want into any situation, ne? Anyway, obviously this fic isn't done yet, and I'm only planning to continue it on feedback (preferably, good feedback). So if no one wants it continued--then screw it, I won't finish it, I have other things to do with my time. But if I actually get feedback, then, by God, I'll write more for the people! My e-mail is on my main fanfiction page but in case you're too lazy to click back, then e-mail feedback at Star_Sara10[ AT ]yahoo.com. You know you want to click it ^_^.
