Chapter 8

Later that night, I dreamt again… only, it was about Dana this time. It was back when Dana was a normal girl, I guessed, and she was in her school uniform. She was running around some campus, and I had no choice but to follow her. So, I ran after her, calling, “D.K! Hey! Wait up, D.K.!!”

How…?

“Oh, I thought you’d have headed to the library! You coming back to the dorm?” She turned, smiling.

I panted, after running so hard to catch up to her, “Yeah. Then we can listen to the White Album while I help you with your homework for the weekend!”

She shook her head and put her hands on my shoulders, shaking me a little bit, “Nonono. You’re going to do homework. I am going to a party.”

How… how would she know me? I mean… I don’t go here…

“Come, on, Dana! You know how I hate parties! They lead to drinking, which leads to getting drunk, which moves on to sex and the next thing you know you’ve dropped out of school and are an unmarried mother!” I ranted, counting each thing off on my fingers.

“You’re paranoid, Cassie!” She said, grabbing my hand, “You’re going to help me get dressed, besides, you might want to come to this party.” She started dragging me towards our shared dorm.

Cassie?

“Why’s that?” I asked warily.

“Because Jackie, the girl who’s throwing it, has got Rumours!!!!”

“Look, Dana… I love Fleetwood Mac just as much as you do… but no parties! You know that I don’t allow you to go to them!”

Dana pulled my hand with more force, “We are not going to make a scene here, Cassie. Wait to yell until we get to the dorm.”

We walked to the dorm in silence, and somehow, when we got there, I knew where the key was, and opened the door.

The room wasn’t like what I’d expected. One side was blue, and the other was pink. The blue side had lots of books on the desk, while the pink had comic books and Nancy Drew. The blue had posters of… Albert Einstein? How… nerdy could this girl get? The pink had posters of some band called “Fleetwood Mac”. I’d studied this… but actually being here was completely different… and why was I dreaming of this? I’d never met Dana outside of the vidscreen…

“Lena! Wake up!” Hilde said, shaking me, obviously, waking me from my slumber. “You’ve just GOT to see this!”
