Relena sighed as she skimmed through the information she had found. This just has to be wrong. She couldn’t believe that she had never noticed this before. It was all happening right in front of her face the whole time and she never even realized it. Printing up the information she promptly got changed and went to bed. She was going to make sure to tell this to her Heero as soon as she saw him.
It was finally morning, and it couldn’t have come any slower for Duo. Duo sighed as he looked at his clock. Well, I might as well get up. He thought to himself as he stretched and yawned. He more or less would have rather just stayed in bed. That is if he were able to sleep at all. But now that he was up he figured he might as well stay up.
Heading for the stairs a certain aroma filled the air. Someone was making breakfast. And though he didn’t realize it before he was hungry.
Stepping into the kitchen, however, he saw a little bit of a different seen than he had expected. This time Wufei was cooking the breakfast. Duo sighed as he poured himself a cup of freshly made coffee and took a seat at the table.
“Ohayo Duo.” Quatre said as a smile came over his lips.
“Ohayo” Duo said as he took a sip of his coffee.
“How are you feeling today Duo?” Quatre asked, a hint of concern in his voice.
“Ok.” Duo answered. He wasn’t really sure if he really wanted to go into detail on his feelings at the moment. So he tried to change the subject. “What’s for breakfast Wufei?” He asked trying to peek around Wufei at what he was making at the stove.
“Hold on.”
“Ok…” Duo sighed. “I’m going for a walk after we eat. Does anyone mind?” Duo asked. Which for Duo was way out of character. Seeing that he doesn’t need the permission of his comrades whether or not he can go out for a simple walk or not.
“No, we don’t mind.” Quatre finally answered.
Relena checked and rechecked. She wanted to be for certain that she had everything that she would need. Fixing up her clothes she grabbed her bag and headed for the door. She was hoping and praying that today would be the day that her Hee-Chan would be coming home from his mission. She missed him so much and wondered if he missed her.
She stood just outside of her mansion waiting for her pink limo. For her time seemed to slow down. Nothing was happening fast enough for her.
Just then her pink limo and her ride pulled up and she got in. “I want to go to the Winner estate please.”
“Right away, Miss Relena.” Before she knew it he was letting her off in front of the estate. “Thank you. I guess I can call you when I need a ride home.” And with that the pink limo pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street.
Walking up to the front door she gave it a knock and was surprised to see that Duo let her in. And just as she was going in, he was going out. Oh, he must be going for another walk or something. She thought to herself as she shrugged nonchalantly and stepped inside.
Duo walked for a while; just thinking about everything that had been going on. He still wanted to know why he worried so much about his comrade like this.
Inside Quatre’s mansion, Relena made herself at home. She was feeling particularly better considering Duo wasn’t there. Taking a seat on the couch she placed her bag on the floor next to her feet.
“What are you doing back here Onna?” Wufei asked as he slightly glared at the girl. He wasn’t really in any mood to see her. Not really like he ever is.
“I wanted to see if Heero was back yet.” She answered very clearly.
Just then there was a knock at the door. But before anything else the person let himself in.
“I wonder who that could be…” Quatre trailed off as he stepped off towards the front door. As he walked back into the room he was followed by a dark hared boy with a dark green tank top and black spandex shorts. It was Heero.
Heero glanced around the room and quickly noted that Duo wasn’t there. And for some reason, which was even completely unknown to him, he was disappointed. There was something that sort of bothered him about that. As if he were expecting to see the boy. There was just something about Duo that caught his interest from the start, but he couldn’t figure out just what that could be. But suddenly he was broken out of his deep thought as he heard that oh too familiar voice.
“Heeeroo! I missed you so much!” Relena said as she moved in closer to her Heero. He was obviously not in the mood, like he ever is. And all he wanted at the moment was to be left alone. He wanted to move out of the way, but before he could even protest she had her arms around his waist. “I missed you so much, Heero! Did you miss me?” She asked pulling him down so he would sit on the couch with her.
“Hn.” Was his only reply.
“Oh I knew you would! What took you so long?” She asked her voice oozing with compassion.
Heero only glared. “I was delayed.” He finally said. Seeing that she wasn’t going to give up that easily. Leaning back on the couch, it felt so good to be back again. But at the same time he enjoyed missions. Well, mostly because it gave him something to do. And maybe just a little more purpose to his life. After all he was raised to be a soldier. But was there more to the ‘perfect soldier’ than he let on? Who knows?
Remembering she had something important to tell Heero she reached down into her back and pulled out a small stack of papers, and quickly shuffled through them.
“Heero?”
“Hn.”
“I just wanted to tell you something, and even though this may be hard to believe at first I want you to try you’re hardest to see this from my point of view ok? This is for your own good. I just wanted you to know that. Ok?”
Heero glared then slightly nodded. But he was more confused than not.
Relena sighed inside. Now where do I begin? Taking in a deep breath she began.
“DuoMaxwellisactuallytheGodofDeathandhehascontroloveryourmindandheonlywantstouseyouandyouhavetogetawayfromhimasfastasyoucanbeforeit’stoolate! <gasp> <gasp> Youknowallthoserumorsabout…!”
“Slow down.” Heero stated rather coldly as he raised his hand and covered Relena’s mouth. “Now I want you to start from the beginning. What about Duo?”
Relena took in another deep breath. “Well, you see Duo Maxwell’s nickname, Shinigami, the God of Death. Well, that really is more than just a nickname. It’s true. He really is the God of Death. And I have proof right here!”
Heero glared skeptically.
“No, it’s true. I may even be too late. It seems as though he has already taken control of your mind. I just don’t want to see you getting hurt by that monster that’s all Heero. I love you too much to see that happen to you now.”
Heero still really didn’t believe her. Or did he. Either way his emotionless ways covered it well. Relena sighed as she looked around the room at the other boys. Wufei was fanning himself off with his book, Trowa was leaning forward in his seat as he listened intently trying to see what else she had to say (as if he really cared) and Quatre was more pale than ever.
Duo Maxwell, the actual God of Death? Where was she getting this? Or was it true? Maybe she is right. But who could prove that? Nothing seemed to be fitting. How would she know anyway? The room fell silent for a few moments as everyone pondered that over and over in their heads.
Just then the door opened and in came Duo himself.
“Hey I’m back…!” Duo called out but stopped in his tracks when he saw Heero. He was extremely happy to see Heero. But for some reason the blank stares he was receiving from everyone, kind of worried him. Do they know? He thought to himself as he took a seat on the couch. But how would they know? How on earth could they have possibly figured it out?
