Hera and the other soldiers, including the five original Gundam Pilots met silently under the lamplight. Hera guestered for them to walk down to the bank. There was a long aluminum boat that was beached on the shore. Eight of the Gundam Pilots climbed into the boat as Heero and Duo pushed the boat into the water. The climbed in.
“Where are we going to?” Duo asked quietly.
“We’re going to where our Gundam’s are, A mile out.” Hera answered as she turned on the engine to the boat and steered it away from the shore. “Pilots…get into your suits.” Hera ordered still staring at the wide expanse of water.
She could hear the original gundam pilots gasp as the school uniforms of the unknown soldiers shifted into an all black suit with a high neck that stopped behind their ears. A yellow visor liguidized over Hera’s face. She turned and smiled at them. She never stopped the boat to let the suit cover her hands, and the boat never wavered.
“That was cool…what is it?” Duo asked staring at Trevor, who’s suit was still changing.
“Nano Technology. It can form into anything that We need, clothes weapons, it can even heal by entering the wound and repairing it via bloodstream.” Trevor said, which was about all that the tall pilot had ever said to the other soldiers.
“Why do you have to wear them?” Quatre asked.
“Our Gundams don’t work unless we wear them. They’ll actually kill the person that who intends to fly them, unless they’ve got the plugs in the back.” Quatren answered as she pinned her hair up in a bun. She pointed to the holes that were lined with metal, they were on the base of her skull, and down her neck.
“Wow…may I take a closer look?” Quatre asked as he crept forward.
“Sure.” Quatren said. She shuddered as Quatre’s cold fingers touched her flesh. He pulled back hesitantly. “It’s okay…I’m just not used to anything or anybody touching them…they’re really sensitve because It is exposed nerves for the mainframe on my Gundam to hook into.” She explained as Quatre touched and looked closer.
“So how does your Gundam work?” Quatre asked, deeply intrigued by what the girl was explaining.
“Well, the suit gets it’s power from me, since a human body can give off enough energy to power a light bulb.” She said cheerfully.
“And that’s enough to power your suit?” He asked.
“Heavens no! The power is multiplied and things like the wind and sun also give it power which it can store. When it has run out of natural power it goes to the fuel bar. What we call its core.” She explained.
“So how do you pilot it?” Duo interrupted also intrigued by what she was saying.
“When we plug in, the Gundam hooks into the blacksuit we are wearing and every little move that we make is imitated by the Gundam. It is really helpful at times. The thing is, if we loose connection with it, it’ll go beserk. And it is unstoppable unless we hook back into it.” Quatren replied patiently.
“ What about its speed and weapons? Does it depend on you to act…like, uh it can’t reach a certain speed because of human’s limitations?” Quatre frowned. He really didn’t like the idea of the human mind being hooked into the suit.
“Oh…that’s simple you see. The suit amplifies our reaction time and our suits protect us from any harm.” Quatren responded patiently as she touched her blacksuit.
“I don’t know if I like that, I mean Wing Zero hooks into the mind too but it also amplifies feelings that the pilot is having. So the suit and it’s pilot becomes really dangerous…” Quatre frowned as he remembered what happened when his father died and he came upon Wing Zero. He blinked back tears as he remembered when he destroyed the colony and almost killed Heero and Trowa.
“I know about Wing Zero and these suits detach emotions from reactions so that is virtually impossible to become a beserker.” She smiled as she remembered her father tell about the time he got into Wing Zero.
“We’re here.” Hera said as she quit the engines to the boat. “Heero, put the visor on and then when we get down there, you can see what’s going on so that you could direct us.” She took a visor from her back pack and handed it to him. He put them on and looked at her. “Can you see?” She asked.
“Yes.” He mumbled.
“Scroll Helmet up.” She muttered and the suit’s collar which stopped behind her ears started to crawl up her face. Her face turned black from the nano-suit. The helmet started to inflate and turn into an oval shapped bubble. It was black and it seemed that nobody could see her face or that she couldn’t even see out.
“Can you hear me?” A voice asked from the ear phone that had crept into his ear without him knowing. He gasped in surprise.
“Uh…yeah.” He muttered.
“Can you see me?” She asked as a face came up in the corner of his visor.
“Yeah.” He muttered.
“Okay, We’re off.” She said happily as she fell backwards into the water, off the edge of the boat. The other pilot’s faces where replaced with black oval-shaped bubbles, all followed into the water and sunk down past the water’s surface. Each of the pilots that were still in the boat had their own visor so they were sitting still watching. Each seemed to talk to themselves but they were really asking questions or talking about odd things to the five emerged in the sea.
“Okay. We’re just coming down to the suits now.” Hera said interrupting the soldier’s conversation. “Can you see what I’m seeing?” she asked as another screen popped up on the visor. There was a black sillouette of five suits standing in a tight circle.
“Damn…” Heero muttered.
“You like?” Hera asked sounding posh and snooty.
Heero didn’t want to admit it but the suits were impressive.
“There.” She said as she landed on the suits shoulder. She breathed the command to open the cockpit and there was a cloud of bubbles as the suit obeyed. She jumped in and closed the cockpit door as she sat in the seat. He could see the water slowly being sucked out of the suit. He could hear her gasp as the suits plugs searched for their rightful outlet.
“We’re coming up.” She warned. Heero’s breath caught in his throat as the cockpit walls disapeared to show a 360 degree screen. He could see a close up of the other suits. The suits started to float upwards when a flash of light came from the feet of the suits. He could see the bubbles on the surface as he glanced over the side of the boat.
Whhoosh!
Heero almost fell off the boat as it pitched and swayed dangerously. Five suits emerged out of the waters. Hovering over the boat. Heero sat down to make sure that he didn’t fall. The other four in the boat gawked at the amazing site of the Gundams.
“Black Wing meet our daddy…Heero.” She whispered as she looked at the boat.
“Holy Crap!” She heard Duo yell.
“Duo, meet your prodigy, Hell hound!” She heard Junior announce proudly. She looked over to see Hellhound do a three-sixty spin with it’s arms extended.
“Quatren, where are you?” Quatre asked.
“right Here.” She said as the Scorpion-like suit waved. “Meet Sand Widow, Sandrock’s baby!” She said defiantly.
“We better get going. You can show your suits off later, but right now I would wish not to bust our cover.” Hera said quickly as she scooped up the boat that held the shocked pilots.
“Holy Shit!!” Duo yelled as the suit blasted off.
“Where are we going?” Hera asked Heero.
“Do you honestly want to go this way, because you’ll bust your cover and have every Oz tin can, from here to mars, looking for you.” Duo pointed out as he glanced over the side of the boat.
“Who said they can see us. If you take your visor off, you won’t see us.” Hera laughed defiantly.
Duo took off his visor and started to turn a shade of green when he looked around. Heero crept over to him and put the glasses back on him.
“Okay…so you guys are from the future…” Duo muttered as he slumped onto the boat’s floor. Heero took a hold of Duo’s braid because it kept wipping him in the face.
“Follow the road.” Heero said calmly not letting his queazeness get the best of him.
The suit did a quick turn and followed the road untill they stopped. “Is this it?” Hera asked as she looked down at the well layed out mansion.
“Yeah. That’s it.” Quatre yelled because he couldn’t hear himself over the roar of the suit’s jets and the wind wipping in his ears. “Just set down on the clearing over there and I’ll go get the hangar doors opened.” He yelled.
Hera set the suit down easily and put the boat down. Quatre climbed out and ran down the meadow and dissapeared. She laughed as she saw Duo lean over the boat and vomit. “Hey Duo…not one for flying?” she laughed at the boy who was still an unhealthy shade of green.
“Never was one for flying throught the air at mach three in a row boat.” He croaked as he scowled at the suit looming over him.
“Oh…I thought you would be…” she said innocently. Hearing the other pilots snicker.
