Generation X

Part 2

Hera’s suit started to shudder as an incoming message was recieved by her visor that covered her eyes.

“Yeah?” She asked as the microphone came out of the side of the visor.

A man appeared, he had a maroon uniform on and a black cap, lined with gold. “Hera…your suit is ready. D’you want to come and try it out?” He asked.

“I’ll be right there.” she said as she turned off the visor. She turned down the corridor to the hanger where her suit was stored. She was greeted by various scientists and mechanics. Each saluting her as she if she was an officer. She of course saluted back as her father demanded her to.

“Hera!” a man said as he hopped down the ladder from the large gundam suit. “ I added some lovely little surpirses to your suit.” He smiled. He wiped the grease from his face and flipped the platinum blonde ponytail off his shoulder.

Zach was the only one naturally born but strangly, the mother was still unknown. To him. Even though he was 17. His father was not willing to say anything but strangly, the gundam pilot’s father knew who it was and vowed not to say anything to him untill His father did.

“Thanks Zach…I really appreiciate it. Did you put that L.D. player in that I asked for?” she smiled as she slipped an arm around his waste.

“Uh…yeah I did…why did you want it anyway?” He frowned as he slumped an arm on her thin shoulders.

“You know that music really helps me when I work…” she beamed her million dollar smile at him.

“When are you leaving?” He whispered in her ear.

“Oh…um…” She glanced at the corner of her visor, which she never bothered to take off. “In 30 minutes…what did you have in mind?” she whispered as she cocked an eyebrow at him.

“Must I say…” He grinned.” I won’t get to see you for a while, so I wanted to give you a going away present.”

“Oh really…” she laughed “Well I think something can be arranged…by the way I…” she was interrupted by the wild screetch of the alarms.

“Great…just when my day was looking good.” he muttered.

“Guess I’ll take a rain check” She laughed as she ran up the gang plank to her Gundam. She looked over to see the rest of the pilots scrambling to get to their suits. Her military uniform slowly shifting together to make her black suit. She could feel her blacksuit’s plugs fill into her output hole that she had inserted in her the base of her head at the ceribral cortex. By the time her blacksuit was done shifting and changing itself, she was stepping into the cockpit. She sat down and flipped the switches. The Gundam Suit’s cables searched blindly for her output plugs in the back of her head. The girl squirmed as the little metal prongs clicked in. The walls of the cockpit dissolved away and she could see all around her. She could feel the suit search for the other holes located at the joints of her arms, legs and spine. The straps that  caused the suit to mimic her every move followed. She tried not to squirm because if she did, the suit would copy her and she would just become an embarassment.

Her visor that still stayed on flashed and Junior came up on the corner of the visor. “Hey Hera…” He said sheepishly.

“What.” She asked sternly, obviously still angry with him for the comment he had made earlier.

“I just wanted to say sorry, I didn’t mean to insult your father.” He said quickly and she thought a little too sincere.

“Yeah whatever. Just forget about it. Focus on the mission ahead.” She growled.

Junior’s eyes flashed quicky with rage for the thought-out apology he made in his head, that was snubbed off quickly by the ’ice queen’ -the name that he heard the mechanics call her. “Fine.” He said quickly trying not to sound offended.

She ordered the mechanic standing by to hit the button to open the hangar. The red lights flashed as the vacuum turned on and the roof opened to the black velvet skies of deep-space. They were met by great flashes of light from the already battling troops and the enemies guns.

She flicked her head up and the suits booster jets took in. She quickly shot upwards, the other pilots following her. Immediatly they were immersed into the heat of the battle, each of the pilots adrenaline surged higher and as the battle intensified.

Trigger, swing, trigger, block, swing. This came to the pilots easily-eerily automatically, like the dummysuits once used by the Romafeller foundation. The battle seemed to become worse, and worse for the Gundam Pilots as the minutes passed by. Soon the Gundam Pilots found themselves battling alone, with none of their allies alive. The Enemy forces where already attacking the ship.

“What are we going to do??” She panicked.

Then she saw the familiar sight of her father’s gundam flashing in the gun fire. His presence seemed to soothe her nerves. She smiled in delight as she saw him and the rest of the original Gundam Pilots fight.

The corner of her visor flashed. “Father” she acknowledged.

“Hera get going. You are already behind the mission.” He ordered trying to sound angry.

“But father…We have to wait untill the enemies are gone…” she said quickly.

“No…we’ll handle it. Yoou have to go. The very existence of the earth is depending on this mission!” He yelled “Now GO!”

She sighed. ‘No use arguing with him, he’s right.’ She reasoned.

“Okay troops…listen up! Weve gotta get going. I’m starting up the hyper-portal in five…four…three…two…one! Engage!” Four rings shot off of her suit and started to glow, they grew brighter, and brighter.

“No! the ship!” Junior yelled.

“Junior! We’ve gotta d this. It’s the only chance we have. Our fathers can handle this…Now go!” She yelled at the braided boy.

“But…” He stuttered.

“Go goddamn you, I’ll shoot you on the spot for insubordination.” She warned him as she pointed the gundam’s laser at the other suit.” Do you want to go down like this?” She asked quietly.

The other three gundam suits had already passed through when the two pilots resolved the matter and started to fly towards the portal. “Good bye father…” She whispered. As her suit was engulfed in the brilliant white light of the time flux.

She gasped at the site that was displayed in front of her. Earth. The big beautiful sphere glowed as the sun hit the surface. “Whoa…” She whispered in amazement.

Her suit began to buckle and her visor flashed with warnings. “Put up shield, we’re entering the atmosphere.” The wings of her suit transformed itself into a giant shield she glanced over to see the other gundam pilots enter the atmosphere. She gasped as the G’s hit her body causing all the air in her lungs to be pushed out. “G vest…” she gasped and a plate slide over her and started to humm. She started to breath easily as she glanced at her screen and saw the black cold sky turn lighter and lighter untill it was a brilliant aqua blue.

She slammed the booster jets on the suits speed slowed. The five Gundam Suits lurched to a hover over a sparkling blue sea. She turned her suit around in a swift 360 degrees to see the view that earth so generously displayed.

Her visor flashed, it was Junior. “Uhh…what do we do now?” He asked sheepishly. Trying not to look into her eyes.

Then, we have to store the gundams and then, well, we have to look for our fathers…which are in the sanc kingdom…and meet with them.” Hera said trying not to let the braided boy’s earlier actions affect the way she treated him.

His violet eyes showed visible surprise at the relaxed tone of her voice. “Okay…where is it?” He asked quietly, now being able to look into her eyes.

“Uhh…just a sec I’m gonna look into that.” She muttered as the cockpit wall in front of her converted into a map of the world. “Find the location of the sanc kingdom please.” Hera asked politely.

“scanning……” the computer said. “Location found…” a red dot showed on the map. Another blue dot showed up indecating where she and the others where.

“Okay listen up troops…we’re not far from the sanc kingdom. Maybe a five minute ride in our suits at mach 3. Ai, any suggestions on how we could hide our suits?” Hera asked.

The Chinese pilot flashed up on the corner of her visor. “In the ocean. If these suits are space-proof then they’re obviously water-proof.” She suggested. “and besides I don’t know what your thinking these suits run off of but they need energy.” She added.

“Well…I wanted to avoid that because it’s hard to gain access to them without exhausting our nanosuits out but, I think we have n choice. We’ll land them 3 miles away from the shore and then set the suits on automatic defend on any metallic objects that come within 60 metres to the surface…Does that sound good?” she asked the other three that flashed onto the visor to listen in on the plan.

“Yes.” Quatren spoke up for the other two. Junior nodded.

“okay let’s go shall we?” Hera guestered as she flicked her wrists and the suit picked up speed. The others flew fast and got to the end of the ocean almost within 3 minutes. They stopped, quit their booster jets and sunk into the ocean. It seemed like a eternity of sinking down to the bottom of the sea, but when they did, they gathered the Gundams in a tight circle each facing the outside.

“Well…let’s get this on the road!” Hera exclaimed. The collar of her suit slowly crawled up her neck and over her face. It inflated into a strange oval shape helmet that was black. Nobody that did not have a suit couldn’t tell who she was. She opened the cockpit and let the water flow in. She floated to the top quickly and looked back as her suit closed the cockpit door. Bubbles where spat out of the vents as the suit got rid of the water in the coockpit.

When she and the others reached the surface, they regrouped. Hera pulled out a small black sphere from her backpack and pressed on it. It slowly grew and turned into a rice shaped capsule. Each of them crawled through the door that opened on the side.

Hera’s helmet began to liguify and slide down her face. “Well…sportsfans! Here we are at the sunny Sanc Kingdom where the best of the best gather to play!” She said, pretending to have a microphone in her hand.

“ Well…that was…um…what do you call that?” Junior asked trying not to laugh at his friend.

“ Uhh sports casting…” she said sheepishly. “I saw it on an archive that I hacked into…”

The small pod stopped as it reached it’s destination, 1 mile away from shore.

“We’re here…” Hera smiled as the door opened to reveal more water, but in the distance the five could see the tall, proud building of the sanc kingdom school. Hera sighed happily “Home sweet home…” she sighed as she jumped into the water with the others who were laughing and splashing around. She started to do an breast stroke towards the land. She turned wide and started to go towards the far end of the shore that was covered with trees that dipped into the water.

It was 1 and a half hours after she had started out, the other teens silently followed her. Her arms began to shake as exhaustion took over. Any more of this, and I think I might not make it. She thought trying to calculate how long it would take them to reach the shore. Her foot touched the sandy ground and she stumbled out of the water and collapsed on the bank. Junior landed besides her with a splat.

“Ack…I’m so tired…” Hera complained. She was good with long distances but, not on a high gee planet like this. Swimming on the ship and swimming in the real thing was totally different.

“I’m hungry.” Junior complained, he slowly turned over and let the suit sap up all the water that was on his body. He fell esleep in the sun.

“That sounds good…” she whispered to her sleeping friend. She let her eyes close and she drifted into sleep as the suit worked on drinking up all the water for more energy.
