Generation X

Part 11

“Very well.” He said. He turned silently and walked down the field towards the house. Each started to load the balls into the gun. Hera’s team had the purple and Heero’s team had the green.

After they had done loading Hera and the others stuff the remains of their ammunition in their pockets and walked into the woods. She heard Heero yell, “Last one out wins.” The groups walked to the opposite end of the fields and waited. There was a whistle blast and they started off. Hera and Junior waited and lead the flank, Ai went to the middle, Trevor and Quatren went off by ahead. They ran swiftly through the heavy brush. Trevor motioned to stop. They all dropped, except Ai. She quickly sprang up a tree. She motioned two with her fingers and quickly her hands changed. She signed to them, ‘Two ahead. Diversion. One to the right by 30 degrees. One at the flank and one unknown.’

Hera silently motioned to Ai. ‘Need diversion. Take out one to 30 degrees. Who is it?’

‘Quatre is to 30 degrees, Trowa and Wufei diversion, and one to the flank is Duo.’ Ai signalled.

Thwap, thwap, thwap. Green splatters went over Ai’s leg. “Shit.” Ai cussed as she hopped out of the tree. Hera looked up and saw Duo take his rifle out of his shoulder with a satisfied grin on his face. She silently crawled to her left and over to a log. She sat and waited, and watched as Ai walked out of the bush. She quickly popped up and shot at Duo. Shots came at her in all directions. She popped back down. Junior pointed to the tree in front of her.

He motioned, ‘Heero.’ She nodded.

She turned to Quatren. ‘ Get Trowa out. Behind the log. Go to the right.’ She motioned. She heard a twig snap and she looked up. She popped up and shot wildly at the tree and popped back down.

Thwap, Thwap Thwap.

Hera looked over, Trevor got up and walked out of the forest.

Thwap, Thwap, Thwap.

Quatren shot at Trowa and Wufei. The ran and jumped behind a mound dirt and leaves. Each of them shot at Quatren, she tucked her arms in and rolled over to the log. She stuck her barrel out and pulled the trigger.

Thwap, Thwap, Thwap.

Wufei got up and left.

Junior turned his rifle and shot at the mound. The mound shot at Quatren. They heard cussing as Quatren and Trowa both got up and walked away. He turned and smiled at Hera.

Duo crawled over to a thick tree. Hera and Junior both shot. She saw Heero jump off the tree and jump over a log. She tried to shoot him but the tree was blocking her view. They stayed there, silently listening. She saw a rock go by and shot quickly at where it had come from.

Thwap, Thwap, Thwap.

Duo got up and walked out of where she had shot at. Junior crawled out his cover and over to the tree, leaving his right side unguarded.

Thwap.

Junior got up and gave a big grin and walked out.

Bastard! He just did that on purpose. She hissed. She realised that what he had done for her. Heero just gave his position away! She put her popped up and shot at where the shot came from. She popped back down and saw the shots fly at the tree trunk she was in front of.

She looked back at the splatter marks. He’s going left. She thought. She went to her right. She slid behind the tree she was in front of. She stood up and put her back to the wall. She turned and shot at I a sweeping motion. She saw the green paint splatter over the tree trunk. 60 degrees to the left she calculated in her brain as she remembered the splatter. He’s coming closer she thought. She ran over to a log that was on an angle.

Thwap, Thwap.

Close Hera. She cussed herself for her carelessness. She moved to the log and faced the tree.

Thwap, Thwap, Thwap, Thwap.

She sat and waited, scanning the brush for any movement. A flash from the gun. She shot four shots. No sign of him. She scanned again. She looked to her right. Heero was silently crawled towards her. She shot desperately at him. He hid behind the tree.

She got up and jumped over the log and squatted.

Thwap, Thwap, Thwap.

A stray shot wet zinging by her head. She ran towards a mound of dirt and dived over it. She landed hard knocking the breath out of her lungs. She got up and ran to forwards to another mound, she jumped over and landed with a splat in a big swampy puddle. She crawled up the mound and looked around. She saw the barrel of his gun sticking out of a tangle of brush. No way to get at him She thought as she looked around. She turned and looked down at the puddle. She looked up at the brush. She pointed her gun up and shot at the trees above Heero. They came down on him, landing close to his left knee and then his right hand. He rolled over and landed on a mound. He could see her leg stick out. He went to shoot her. Click, Click. Empty.

She moved her foot in and scanned. Her ran towards her. His gun up. She pointed and shot. Click, Click. Shit. Empty. She got up and yelled and ran towards him. He’s out! They stopped in front of each other. Their rifle in their shoulders, pointing at each other and breathing hard.

“Your empty.” She pointed out smiling.

“You are to.” He smiled back.

“Who said?” She rattled the gun. The tank rattled. “One left.” She smiled. She pulled the trigger and shot him in the chest. He gasped as the purple paint splattered all over his jacket.

“Good job. You were taught well.” He said unemotionally, he lowered his gun and walked out with Hera.

They walked out of the woods together. Hera had a big grin on her face as she saw her friends. They all laughed as they saw Hera covered in mud from head to toe. Her face was smudged and looked absurd.

“What took you so long?” Duo asked as he laughed at the big dumb grin on Hera’s muddy face.

“We just had too much fun.” Hera laughed as she saw the big purple splatter mark on the side of Duo’s head. “Didn’t that hurt?” She asked.

“Naa..” He said as he looked at Heero.

“How’d you get him?” Trowa asked. He had a purple and a green splatter mark on his arm.

“Carefully. I knew he was bluffing because he had a clear shot and he couldn’t take it. He ran towards me, which wasn’t his tactic. So I put two and two together.” She smiled. “ Why do you have green and purple marks?” She asked.

“I said something I shouldn’t’ve so Quatre shot me.” He shrugged looking at the blonde boy that was obviously pouting. His back was turned to them and his arms where crossed.

Hera chuckled. “ Ahh the daily trauma’s of a g-pilot’s life.” She sighed loudly.

Quatre turned and glared at her. He was giving Heero’s nasty death glare.

She laughed harder. “ Kat, I’m immune to it.” She said.

He turned and stalked off towards the mansion. He dropped the gun angrily in the crate without even stopping. Trowa caught up to him, dropping the gun into the crate. He took a hold of Quatre’s shoulders and steered him away from the group towards the perimeter wall. The others walked towards the crate and dropped their guns in and walked towards the Mansion.

Duo asked Heero excitedly about the game, only getting grunts for replies. Duo sighed and stopped talking. Hera glanced at Junior, who walked silently besides her. She smiled and walked closer putting an arm around his waste. He slid an arm around hers. He laughed as he picked a leaf off of her hat.

“I’m hungry.” She complained.

“Yeah me too, since we never had any breakfast.” He explained. “Duo.. what time is it?” He asked.

Duo glanced at his watch. “2:30.” He responded.

They walked into the grand Manson and took off their muddy boots. Hera’s suit sucked up the mud and she took the flap of her shirt and wiped her face off. Her face was spotless.

They silently walked to their bedrooms to change and/or rest. Hera collapsed on the bed and sighed loudly. Junior fell besides her. She closed her eyes and fell into an easy, black sleep.

“Heero?” Duo asked behind him as he shut the door to the bathroom.

“What?” He asked sounding impatient.

“What was she like.. I mean fighting against?” He asked curiously.

“Good, she knew her stuff when it came to warfare.” He growled as he shut the door. Excellent, she just played. I would hate to be her enemy. He thought to himself as he turned the tap to the shower. I Guess whoever taught her, taught her well.. He sighed loudly as he stepped lightly into the shower.
